Oh My Fright Card

It’s Saturday, so I have a simple Halloween card that is not too scary. I used a new to me layout to highlight my focal image. I added a little something, something to make it more fun. Don’t forget that with the new month, Stampin’ Up! has a new Product of the Month, Shining Stars dies. It is quite a collection with some of them nesting, some with stitching, and some small ones as accents. They are definitely on my wish list and I’m sure they will go fast with the holidays coming up.

Now on to the card. To make the card base, I cut a piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock to 5½” x 8½” on my Paper Trimmer, scored and folded at 4¼”, and burnished with my Bone Folder. I cut a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock to 4″ x 5¼” to act as my mat. I cut a piece of Basic Black cardstock to 3⅞” x 5⅛” for my background. For the fun layout pieces, I cut two each of Pumpkin Pie cardstock, Gorgeous Grape cardstock, and Granny Apple Green cardstock to 1½” x 1½” squares.

I placed my squares on my black background piece until I was satisfied with the arrangement and adhered them with my favorite adhesive (Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal). I place this piece in my Swirls of Magic Embossing Folder and ran it through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. I thought with the extra bulk from the squares that it would be difficult to emboss, but it went through perfectly with my clear plates.

I adhered my panel to my orange mat and then to my card base.

I die cut a square from Tile Garden dies (bundle) from Basic White cardstock. With the Oh My Fright stamp set (bundle), I stamped the cat under the hat in Black ink. I colored in the image. Some suggested Stampin’ Blends: Pumpkin Pie, Granny Apple Green, Blackberry Bliss, Basic Black. Alas, no Gorgeous Grape or Basic Gray Blends.

I stamped Trick or Treat from the set on a ⅝” strip of Basic White cardstock in black ink. I trimmed the ends at an angle. I adhered the cat with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I adhered the sentiment with glue.

For the embellishments, I used some black glitter cardstock that I had on hand. I pulled out my retired Witch Hat Builder punch and punched out three stars. I added these to my card for a bit of sparkle.

To finish the card, I stamped Happy Halloween on a 4” x 5¼” piece of Basic White cardstock and glued it inside my card.

I hope you liked this card!
