Faraway Landscapes Father’s Day Card

It’s June, so Father’s Day will be here before you know it. I thought I’d get a jump on it and make a Father’s Day card. The stamp set I used is on the Last Chance list which was updated yesterday. I’ve used this set before and did a watercolor. This time I simplified things and used markers. The images are small and a little hard to color. I thought of using colored pencils and I may if I decide to use this set again. I chose the beach scene because who doesn’t love the beach?

Also with a new month is a new Product of the Month. This month has a stamp set for $5 with a $75 purchase. I love the cute little animals.

Now, onto the card. For the card base I cut a piece of Basic Beige cardstock to 5½” x 8½” on my Paper Trimmer, scored and folded at 4¼”, and burnished with my Bone Folder. I cut a piece of Pool Party cardstock to 4” x 5¼” and ran it through my So Swirly Embossing Folder (Last Chance!) on my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. With a Blending Brush, I ink blended Pool Party ink around the edges to highlight the pattern and to give it a more distinct edge. I adhered this to my card base using my favorite adhesive (Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal).

I die cut the second largest hexagon die from Nested Essentials dies from Basic White cardstock and again from Azure Afternoon cardstock. On the white piece, I stamped the beach scene from Faraway Landscapes stamp set (Last Chance!) with Momento Tuxedo Black ink (Last Chance!). I colored it in with Stampin’ Blends. Some suggested colors: Balmy Blue, Crumb Cake, Bronze & Ivory, Shaded Spruce, Granny Apple Green, Blueberry Bushel, and Gray Granite.

I cut the blue hexagon in half horizontally. I adhered my white hexagon to it, offsetting it about ⅛” top and bottom to give it a little frame. Originally, I die cut the largest hexagon to act as a frame, but I thought it was too big. I’ll include a picture and you can decide.

I stamped the seagrass from Relaxing Waterside bundle in Old Olive ink on Basic White cardstock and die cut it out with the coordinating die. I also stamped Happy Father’s Day in Azure Afternoon ink on white and trimmed it down. I glued the seagrass to the left of my sentiment.

I added my image panel to my card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added my sentiment with Dimensionals, but used a dab of glue where it overlapped my image.

For a bit of shine, I added three Antique Pearls.

To finish the card, I stamped a greeting on a 4” x 5¼” piece of Basic White cardstock and glued it inside my card.

I hope you like this card and give it a try!
