A week ago, one of Nascar’s great drivers passed away. Not in a fiery crash, but of an infection. It is humbling to know that someone so young and fit can be taken. As a Nascar fan, it is difficult to imagine that a man I watched race has passed. Kyle Busch was only 41 years old, the same age as my eldest son. I can’t say that he was one of my favorites; I prefer the other Kyle in car #5. But he made the race exciting as he aggressively pursued the win. And he did win, starting at a young age. Sometimes the races got a little boring because everyone knew he was going to win again. He won his last race just days before he passed. Rest in peace, Kyle Busch.
Today’s card is in memory of Kyle.
For the card base, I cut a piece of Real Red cardstock to 5½” x 8½” on my Paper Trimmer, scored and folded at 4¼”, and burnished with my Bone Folder. I cut a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock to 4” x 5¼” to act as a mat. I cut a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock to 3⅞” x 5⅛” to create a background. On this piece I stamped the sideview race car from Ready, Set, Go! stamp set in Smoky Slate ink for a tone on tone look. With a Blending Brush, I added ink around the edges.

I adhered this panel to my yellow mat piece with my favorite adhesive (Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal). I added this to my card base.

For my focal image, I stamped the front view car from the set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink (Last Chance!) on Basic White cardstock. I die cut this out using a circle from Spotlight on Nature die set on my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. You could also cut out the circle first and then stamp. On a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the checkered flags in black and fussy cut them out.

I colored my card with Stampin’ Blends. Here are some suggested colors: Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Blueberry Bushel, Smoky Slate, and Basic Black. I like the simplicity of the primary colors. I stamped Ready, Set, Go! with Real Red ink under the car. I adhered the checkered flags to my piece.
I cut the largest circle from Stylish Shapes dies from Blueberry Bushel cardstock. I adhered my focal image to it.

I added my focal image to my card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
To finish the card, I stamped a greeting on a 4″ x 5¼” piece of Basic White cardstock and glued it inside my card. There is a nice Happy Birthday stamp in the stamp set, or you could choose to highlight a different occasion.
I hope you liked this card!
