Happy Wednesday! It’s the end of April and the end of our current annual catalog. Stampin’ Up! will be moving away from the annual catalog and have three mini catalogs each year. The new catalog will launch on Tuesday, May 5, along with new online exclusives. Today’s card features new product from the catalog. So, let’s jump right in!
For the card base, I cut a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock to 5½” x 8½” on my Paper Trimmer, scored and folded at 4¼”, and burnished with my Bone Folder. I cut a piece of Night of Navy cardstock to 4” x 5¼”. I cut a piece Scenic Coast DSP (available next week!) to 3″ x 3″.
To make the focal layer of the card, I cut the lighthouse die circle from the Sunset Coast dies (bundle & save, available next week!) from my navy piece. I was careful in my placement of the die so that the lighthouse was mostly vertical on the cardstock and used Easy See tape to hold it down when I put it through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. While I had the die out, I die cut the lighthouse from a scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock.

I added some texture to my focal layer by embossing it. I embossed the lower half of the image with the Soft Waves Embossing Folder (Last Chance!) To do this, I put my cardstock in the embossing folder as far as I wanted it embossed and ran it through my machine. I did the same with the top of the piece with the Beautiful Pattern Embossing Folder (Last Chance!).

I trimmed down my crumb cake lighthouse so I would just have the lighthouse. I added a little dimension by using a Sponge Dauber and applying Crumb Cake ink to the edges.

To add some dimensional to the die cut, I took a 1½” x 3″ piece of Pecan Pie cardstock and laid it behind my lighthouse image. I didn’t want the brown to show through my windows or above the rocky shoreline, so I used a pencil to mark where those things were on the pecan. I trimmed away the bits that would show.

I adhered the pecan piece to the back of my lighthouse using my favorite adhesive (Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal). I also added my crumb cake lighthouse.

What really makes this card shine is the Scenic Coast DSP. I added this behind the lighthouse. The colors are beautiful and the paper has a lustrous shine to it. Gorgeous.

I glued this to my card base.

For my sentiment, once again I reached for my Banner Sayings stamps, (bundle). I think that is the only current stamp set that I have that has a suitable Happy Birthday. I stamped this with Night of Navy ink on a scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock. I die cut it out with the banner from Stylish Shapes dies. You could also use the coordinating punch in the bundle. I added my sentiment with a couple Stampin’ Dimensionals.
To finish the card, I added two Loose Gold Sequins with some glue. You could also use Mini-Glue Dots.
I stamped a greeting on a 4” x 5¼” piece of Basic White cardstock and glued it inside my card.
I hope you liked this card!
