Blessed Card

Happy Thanksgiving a day early! I hope everyone has a safe holiday and enjoys time with family and friends and doesn’t get too stressed trying to do it all. What are some of your favorite Thanksgiving traditions? Is it waking up and watching the parades on television? How about that family football game or just watching your favorite team win? Is it the food that makes it special? Or just the time socializing? Maybe you are a Black Friday shopper and get up before dawn to get the best deals. If you have a special Thanksgiving tradition, please share it in the comments below. However you celebrate, I hope at the end of the day you are thankful for all the positives in your lives.

Don’t forget that Stampin’ Up! is having their Black Friday sale through Monday. Have you had a chance to see what has been discounted? If not, click here to take a peek.

Today’s card is my take on a card Terry had at her most recent class. I couldn’t resist tweaking it a bit. Here is a picture of the original card.

To make the card base, I cut a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock to 4¼” x 11” on my Paper Trimmer, scored and folded at 5½”, and burnished with my Bone Folder. I cut a ½” x 5½” strip of Early Espresso cardstock. I cut a 2″ x 5½” piece of Gathering Together DSP. I love the reverse side of this piece of DSP, so it was difficult using the unfoiled side.

With my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, I die cut the third largest arch in the Everyday Arches die set from Early Espresso cardstock. I cut the fourth largest arch from Very Vanilla cardstock. I cut the oak leaves in the Amber Autumn bundle from Gold Foil Sheets and Earthen Tone Metallic Specialty Paper. On the reverse side of each of these I taped the veins into the aperture to hold them.

l stamped Blessed to Have You in my Life from the Amber Autumn bundle with Early Espresso ink on Crushed Curry cardstock. I die cut this out with my Textured Notes dies.

On the vanilla arch, I stamped the pumpkins from Amber Autumn bundle with Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored in the larger pumpkin with my Stampin’ Blends. I began with my Cajun Craze and filled in the edges and places with the shadow drawn. With my dark Pumpkin Pie Blend, I flicked up from the Cajun Craze into the open space from the top and the bottom, pulling some of the darker color up with my marker. With my light Pumpkin Pie, I blended the colors together in the middle. The key is using a light hand and not filling the image in with just one color instead of blending.

I repeated this process with the smaller pumpkin, but used light and dark Pumpkin Pie, and dark Petal Pink to finish.

I used light and dark Daffodil Delight to color the corn and dried grasses.

I used Old Olive Blends to color in the pumpkin stems and tendrils. I used Ivory and light Petal Pink to color in the gourd.

I used Granny Apple Green to color in the rest of the leaves and Poppy Parade to color in the single maple leaf.

To assemble the card, I adhered the brown strip ¼” from the left edge using my favorite adhesive (Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal). I used a scrap for mine as you can tell in the picture. The right side gets covered up, so it didn’t matter.

Next, I added the DSP strip to my card base. I adhered the arches together.

I glued my focal image to my card base.

I added the leaves to the back of my sentiment label and added it to my card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To finish the card, I stamped a greeting on a 4″ x 5¼” piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.

I hope you liked this card!
