It’s Simple Saturday and I have a super simple card for you today. I love the Peaceful Pier stamp set and couldn’t resist using it again. I just love the little boy in his boots catching a fish, sitting in his camp chair. It invokes memories of when my own boys were little and testing their hands at fishing, the shrieks of delight when a small fish accidentally snagged itself on the hook. Ah, those were the days.
Don’t forget, Stampin’ Up! has all their In Color products on sale through August 31. This includes the basics of ink and paper, but also includes DSP, markers, kits, embellishments, etc. Also, the Stampin’ Write Markers are on the Last Chance List. Get your favorites while you can! Now on to the card!
To make the card base, I cut a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock to 5½” x 8½” on my Paper Trimmer, scored and folded at 4¼”, and burnished with my Bone Folder. I cut an additional piece of Balmy Blue cardstock to 4⅛” x 5⅜”. I embossed this piece with my Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder on my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. I cut a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock to 2½” x 5¼”. I cut three 2⅜” x 1½” rectangular postage stamps from Perennial Postage die set from Basic White cardstock.
I stamped the pier, boy fishing, and trees from Peaceful Pier stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink on the postage pieces. I colored the images in using Stampin’ Blends: Smoky Slate, Mossy Meadow, Granny Apple Green, Misty Moonlight, Real Red, Pecan Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Balmy Blue, SU800, SU300, and SU500.
I stamped Happy Birthday from Simply Said stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink on a strip of Basic White cardstock. I trimmed this down close to the words.
I adhered my embossed piece to my card base using my favorite adhesive (Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal). The embossed piece is just slightly smaller than the card base.

I laid out my stamped images on the Misty Moonlight strip before adhering to adjust the spacing. In the picture, I used the fish stamp originally, but didn’t like it as well as the trees, so I switched them out. Sometimes what is in my head doesn’t look as good as in reality.

To help ground the images, I added some Linen Thread. This is a great neutral embellishment. I cut a piece about 13″ and folded it in half. I added Mini Glue Dots to the back of my panel and stuck the ends to it. This helps save a bit of thread. It does add up!

I glued this panel to my card base about ½” from the top and ⅛” from the card edge. I tied a bow with the Linen Thread and added it to my card with a Mini Glue Dot. I adhered my sentiment with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment on a 4” x 5¼” piece of Basic White cardstock and glued it inside my card.
I hope you liked this card!
