Today I have a fun card that could easily be used for a child or adult. The animals in the stamp set are reminiscent of the Big Eyes style by Margaret Keane where the eyes really stand out. Welcome back for another Simple Saturday post.
To make the card base, I cut a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock to 4-1/4″ x 11) on my Paper Trimmer, scored and folded at 5-1/2″, and burnished with my Bone Folder. I cut a piece of Pecan Pie cardstock to 4″ x 5-1/4″ to act as a matte. I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 3-3/4″ x 5″ to stamping my focal image.
I stamped the large palm leaf from the Silly Safari Bundle with Mossy Meadow ink full strength three times along the edge of the piece. I also stamped off once and twice for a variation of color. Because some of the leaves went off the paper, I always stamped off on a scrap paper rather than stamping the stamp twice in succession on my panel. This can cause parts of the image to be darker than the rest of the stamped image because the ink wasn’t removed in the first stamping.

Next, I stamped the narrow palm image with Old Olive ink. This helped create a leafy border around my focal image.

With Momento Tuxedo Black ink, I stamped the giraffe image. This image does not fill in the space, so I put a Post-It note over the stamped section and stamped again, lining up the neck as well as I could.

I colored in the giraffe using Stampin’ Blends: Pumpkin Pie, Pecan Pie, Medium Light, and Medium Deep.
I adhered my Pecan Pie panel to my card base with my favorite adhesive (Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal) leaving about 1/8″ border all around. I adhered my stamped panel to the Pecan Pie piece.
I stamped Thank You big time from the set with Pumpkin Pie ink on a 1″ strip of Basic White cardstock. I cut the ends at an angle. To get the same angle on both ends, I took the first piece I cut and flipped it and cut the same angle on the other end.
I punched the 1-7/8″ circle from the bundle from Pumpkin Pie cardstock. I added some texture to the circle by repeat stamping the scatter image in Pumpkin Pie ink for a tone on tone look.

I adhered the sentiment to my circle centering it on the circle. I adhered the circle to my card with Stampin’ Dimensionals, strategically placing the angled ends of my sentiment over the overlapping part of the neck image.
I hope you liked this card! It could easily be made into a birthday card with a different sentiment in the set.
