Trusty Tools Birthday Card

Today’s card uses the Trusty Tools stamp set and dies. If you came to the last class, you may have made the Trusty Tools Father’s Day card. It used the retired DSP for the tools, and I thought it would be nice to make a card using the stamps and dies instead, since they are available. This card does involve some die cutting, but nothing too over the top. It is Saturday after all. It’s a perfect card for that handy person in your life!

To make the card base, I cut a piece of Pecan Pie cardstock to 4-1/4″ x 11″ on my Paper Trimmer, scored and folded at 5-1/2″, and burnished with my Bone Folder. I cut a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock to 4″ x 5-1/4″ and ran it through my Plaster Painting 3D Embossing Folder on my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. I cut a piece of Early Espresso cardstock to 2-7/8″ x 4-1/4″ to matte my pegboard. For the pegboard, I cut a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock to 2-5/8″ x 4″. From the Crumb Cake cardstock piece, I die cut the pegboard with the Trusty Tools dies. I centered the die on the cardstock and held it in place with some Easy-See tape before running it through my machine.

I stamped the tape rule, hammer, and wrench from Trusty Tools Stamp Set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink on Basic White cardstock and die cut them out. I colored them with Stampin’ Blends: Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade, Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate, and Misty Moonlight. If your handy person has a favorite brand of tool, you could easily swap out the colors to match that brand.

I stamped Happy Birthday from the Simply Said stamp set with Misty Moonlight ink on a strip of Basic White cardstock. I trimmed it down to 1/4″ x 2-1/2″.

I die cut the nuts and bolts from Silver Foil Sheets.

I adhered my embossed piece to my card base with my favorite adhesive (Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal). I adhered my pegboard piece to my matte leaving even borders.

I adhered this panel to my card with Stampin’ Dimensionals toward the upper left-hand corner of the card.

I glued my tools to the pegboard. I used glue and half a Dimensional to adhere my greeting to the card. I used glue where my sentiment overlapped the pegboard panel and the Dimensional where it hung over on the right. I added a little shine by adding the die cut silver nuts and bolts to the lower right corner of the card.

To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment on a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock and glued it inside my card.

I hope you liked this card!
