Impressions Abloom Fun Fold Card

Today I have a fun fold step card using the Impressions Abloom stamp and die bundle. This set is an Online Exclusive, so you may have missed it if you are focused on the offerings in the new catalog. If you don’t already have your new catalog, please feel free to stop by the studio and pick one up! And don’t forget Stampin’ Up’s new reward program. With a qualifying order of $20 in product, you can earn 10% towards a future purchase. Stampin’ Up! does all the work of tracking your purchases, but you must create an account and opt in. It’s easy to do. Let me know if you have questions.

With summer rapidly approaching, I thought I would use colors that reflect the sunny, warm days ahead. I tend to gravitate towards pink (my favorite color!) but I thought I’d change things up a tad and chose a cheerful yellow and calming blue. This step fold design is super easy and doesn’t involve a lot of cutting, scoring, and difficult folding. It’s clean and neat!

To make the card base, I cut a piece of Pool Party cardstock to 5’1/2″ x 8-1/2″ on my Paper Trimmer, scored and folded at 1″, 2″, and 5-1/4″, and burnished with my Bone Folder. The folds are mountain, valley, mountain and will give you a wonky M configuration. I also cut a piece to 3″ x 6″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″.

I cut a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock to 2-3/4″ x 4″ to act as a matte. I cut a strip to 3/8″ x 3″. I also cut two pieces of Basic White cardstock to 3″ x 5-1/4″ and one to2-3/8″ x 3-7/8″ for my focal layer.

With the Impressions Abloom bundle, I stamped the largest flower image on my focal layer in Lemon Lolly ink twice. I stamped the detailed image in Daffodil Delight ink. I stamped the center of the flower with Peach Pie ink and the detail in Pumpkin Pie ink. I also stamped these in the upper right-hand corner of one of the 3″ x 5-1/4″ pieces of white and an additional one on a piece of scrap Basic White cardstock. I die cut the last one on my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.

I made two masks from a Post-It note (you could use Masking Paper if you are going to make several cards) and cut them out with my Paper Snips. I covered my stamped images with the masks before stamping the leaves with Lemon Lime Twist ink. I stamped the detail with Granny Apple Green ink.

I used the scatter stamp from Elements of Text stamp set (see below) to add a little filler. I used Coastal Cabana ink, stamped off once before stamping. I left my masks in place.

I removed the masks for the big reveal!

I stamped the Happy Birthday from All Zipped Up! stamp set in Coastal Cabana ink on a strip of Basic White cardstock. I die cut this with the banner die from the Stylish Shapes dies.

Now I have all my pieces and can assemble the card. First, I glued the stamped white panel to the card base using my favorite adhesive (Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal).

Next, I applied glue to the bottom of the 3″ x 6″ piece. I lined it up next to the card base to make sure I didn’t get a little overzealous in my glue application. You only want glue where it will stick to the card along that 1″ bottom step.

I made sure the bottom of my card was even with the panel.

I flipped the card over making sure all the folds were folded, and the card was flat and compressed. As you can see in the photo, the overlap is about 3/4″.

That overlap is where the glue goes to adhere the panel to the back of the card. I applied my glue and then folded the flap back to the card base to adhere.

I adhered my stamped panel to the Coastal Cabana matte piece and then glued this to my card. I added the die cut flower to the panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added some glue to the back of my sentiment piece and adhered it to my Coastal Cabana strip. I glued this to the bottom of my card. I added three Rhinestones (one of each size) to the card for a bit of bling.

Finally, I stamped a sentiment on the other 3 x 5-1/4″ piece of white and glued it inside my card.

I hope you liked this fun and cheerful card!
