Labeled with Love Card

I will start this blog post with an apology. When I created this card, the stamp set was available and now it is not, unless you don’t object to the French version. Vive la française! (My French is a little rusty after 40 years.) You could also substitute the butterflies with butterflies from another set in your stash. Or anything, really. Marilyn here with a simple card layout that could be easily adapted to other supplies. DSP, anyone?

To make the card base, I cut a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ on my Paper Trimmer, scored and folded at 4-1/4″, and burnished with my Bone Folder. I cut a 5-1/4″ x 1-1/4″ strip of Melon Mambo cardstock. I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4″ x 5-1/4″ and ran it through my Forever Plaid Embossing Folder on my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. I cut a piece of Basic Black cardstock to 4-1/4″ x 3-1/4″.

With a piece of Basic White cardstock (I started with a quarter sheet and cut it down later. You could start with a 3″ x 3-3/4″ piece) I stamped the solid butterfly image randomly with Melon Mambo ink. I left at least 1/2″ between the butterflies, turning them this way and that.

Next, I stamped the line image with Momento Tuxedo Black ink, lining up the images.

To fill the white space between the butterflies, I used the scatter stamp from Spring Corners stamp set. Again, I turned the stamp as I went to give it a random look.

I cut down my stamped panel to 3″ x 3-3/4″. You could have started with a piece this big before stamping. I wanted to be able to choose the areas that appealed to me. I cut this down into three 1-1/4″ x 3″ strips. I decided I liked the look of it in order rather than random placement.

I laid the strips on my black panel and then glued them on with my favorite adhesive (Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal). I started with the outside pieces and then centered the middle one.

I stamped the label stamp in Momento Tuxedo Black ink on Basic White cardstock. I stamped Happy Birthday in Melon Mambo ink on the left side of the label. I punched it out with the Label with Love punch. I stamped an extra butterfly on a scrap of white cardstock and fussy cut it out with my Paper Snips.

To assemble the card, I glued my embossed panel to the card base. Next, I glued the Melon Mambo strip close to the bottom of the white panel, leaving a strip of white. I adhered the stamped panel to the upper left with equal borders, left and top, about 1/4″.

I bent up the wings of the butterfly on either side of the body and ran a thin line of glue along this and glued it to my label. I didn’t glue the wings down because I wanted them to pop a little. I attached the label with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For a bit of bling, I added three Rhinestones to the card. I also brushed some Wink of Stella onto the solo butterfly.

To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment on a piece of 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock and glued it inside the card.

I hope you liked this card and will try it!
