It’s Simple Saturday and today I have an easy card that is quick to make. Instead of using Designer Series Paper to create a background, I used a repeat stamping technique on a neutral cardstock. You can change the background as easily as changing the ink color! So, let’s get started!
To make the card base, I cut a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ on my Paper Trimmer, scored and folded at 4-1/4″, and burnished with my Bone Folder. For the matte layer, I cut a piece of Basic Beige cardstock to 4″ x 5-1/4″. Using my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine and from Pool Party cardstock, I die cut the 3-1/2″ circle from the Spotlight on Nature dies which is currently discounted as a bundle with the stamp set. I cut the 2-3/4″ circle from Basic White cardstock.
I stamped the leaf image from Spotlight on Nature stamp set in Pool Party ink on my Basic Beige matte piece. The blank spot in the middle is where I’m going to add my focal image, so I didn’t worry about filling it in. I turned my stamp as I went to give it a random look.

As I was stamping, I noticed I got an ink halo around some of the images. To remedy this, I got some sharp scissors and trimmed the stamp a little. In the picture below, you can see where I trimmed the stamp along the upper edge. Sometimes when the stamps are cut, the cut lines are not evenly bordered around the stamp. It is okay to clean them up a bit, just don’t cut into the image!

With Momento Tuxedo Black ink, I stamped the flower image on the white circle. On a scrap of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the butterfly image. My last bit of stamping was stamping Happy Birthday from Simply Said stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink on a strip of white cardstock.
I colored in my stamped images with Stampin’ Blends: Pretty in Pink, Soft Sea Foam, and Pool Party. I fussy cut the butterfly since there is no coordinating die.
I adhered the stamped panel to my card base using my favorite adhesive (Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal) leaving equal borders. I made sure that the unstamped space was on the top. I adhered my circles together and then glued them near the top of my card. I added the butterfly with Stampin’ Dimensionals. You can add some Wink of Stella to the butterfly to give it some shine.
I trimmed my sentiment down with my Paper Trimmer, close to the words. You could also use Paper Snips. I glued this on a 1/2″ x 4″ strip of Pool Party cardstock and then to my card under my focal image. I added a Rhinestone on either side of my sentiment.
To finish the card, I stamped a greeting on a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock and glued this inside my card.
I hope you liked this simple card!
