Wildflower Birthday Card

Today I have a simple birthday card that takes advantage of the beautiful Wildflower Birthday DSP. You’ll want to add this DSP to your stash. Don’t forget that every $60 earns you FREE product during Sale-abration!

To make the card base, I cut a piece of Pool Party cardstock to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ on my Paper Trimmer, scored and folded at 4-1/4″ for a top folding card, and burnished with my Bone Folder. Next, I cut a piece of the Wildflower Birthday DSP to 3″ x 4″. When you cut the DSP, make sure you pay attention to the direction of the design. It should be cut in a portrait layout. I cut a Gold Foil sheet strip to 1/2″ x 4″. I cut a scrap of Basic White cardstock using my Tailor Made Tag dies (retired, unfortunately) on my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. If you do not have these dies, you could use any dies you have to cut a tag, or make a tag by cutting a piece of Basic White cardstock to 1-5/8″ x 3-1/4″ and snipping two corners. Use a hole punch to make the hole for the ribbon.

The Happy Birthday on the tag is stamped in Pool Party ink and is from the Birthday Celebration Stamp Set. The two words are separate stamps. I recommend stamping the larger image first to make sure you have adequate space. Stamp Birthday toward the bottom of the tag, then stamp Happy above it.

To assemble the card, adhere the DSP to the Gold strip, leaving about a 1/8″ border. I used my favorite adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal. If you need to trim either piece, now is the time. In the photo above, I forgot to trim my gold strip, so you can see it extends past the edges of my DSP. This panel is glued to the left-side of the card base with a 1/8″ border top, bottom, and left side. I tied a piece of Gold Open Weave Trim to the tag, inserting one end through the hole before doing a simple tie. Alternatively, if you made your own tag, you could skip the hole and tie the ribbon and adhere with a glue dot. I adhered the tag to my card using Stampin’ Dimensionals. To give my card a little sparkle, I added three gems from the Sunny Day Iridescent Dots pack.

To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment on a piece of 4″ x 5-1/4″ Basic White cardstock and glued it inside my card.

I hope you liked this card!
