With Christmas a week away, I thought a change of pace was in order. After all, we still need other types of cards to send to friends and loved ones. Marilyn here, with a card using the online exclusive stamp set, Happy Hibiscus.
To begin, I cut a card base of Pool Party cardstock to 4-1/4″ x 11″ with my Paper Trimmer, scored and folded at 5-1/2″, and burnished with my Bone Folder. I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4-1/4″ x 2-1/2″. I ran this piece through my Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder on my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. I cut two 4-1/4″ x 1/2″ strips from a Gold Foil Sheet.
With a scrap of Basic White cardstock, I die cut a circle from the Spotlight on Nature dies and stamped the Thanks sentiment from the Happy Hibiscus stamp set with Momento Tuxedo Black ink on the left side of the circle. I stamped the outline hibiscus image (the three flowers are on the same stamp for more efficient die cutting) with Flirty Flamingo ink. With a Sponge Dauber, I applied Flirty Flamingo ink to the solid flower images, but just along the edges, and stamped onto the outline images. This gave the flowers a softer look and I only needed one ink pad! I stamped the leaf images with Soft Sea Foam ink, sponge daubed the solid part and stamped. I used Daffodil Delight ink for the smaller flower images. I didn’t have the dies, so I fussy cut all my images out with my Paper Snips. I recommend using the dies. You can also add dimension to the flowers by running them through the coordinating embossing folder, which I didn’t have on hand. Get the bundle here for 10% off.
I applied an Adhesive Sheet to the back of a piece of Gold Foil and cut out two sprigs with the Cheerful Daisies dies. The adhesive on the back of these fine detailed sprigs would make them easier to adhere to the card.
To assemble the card, I adhered the embossed Basic White piece to the two strips of Gold Foil using my favorite adhesive (Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal) leaving about a 1/8″ border. I tend to lean toward the tape runner because I always seem to make a mess with the liquid glue on my gold foil. I adhered this about an inch from the bottom of the card. I arranged my flowers by laying them out until I was satisfied with them and glued them together, and then on the circle. I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back, peeled the backing from the sprigs, and adhered my floral arrangement to the card. I didn’t add Dimensionals to the sprigs; I just pressed them down onto the card.
As a finishing touch, I added three gold gems from Blooming Pearls.
I glued a blank 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Basic White cardstock to the inside of the card.
I hope you liked this card!
