Simple Reindeer Card

Today I have a simple card using Reindeer Days 12″ x 12″ DSP as the background and the focal image.

To begin, I cut a piece of Early Espresso cardstock to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ with my Paper Trimmer, scored and folded at 4-1/4″, and burnished with my Bone Folder to make my card base. Next, I cut a 3″ x 4″ piece of the strings of lights from Reindeer Days 12″ x 12″ DSP. Be careful to cut the paper so that the lights move left to right on the 4″ side of the rectangle. I cut a piece of Real Red cardstock to 4-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ to act as a matte. Finally, I cut a 4″ x 1-“1/2” piece of the red glitter paper from the Festive 12″ x 12″ Glimmer Paper pack. From my Spotlight on Nature dies, I cut a circle from Real Red cardstock. using my Stampin’ Emboss and Die Cutting Machine. I cut a cavorting reindeer from the Reindeer Days DSP using my Paper Snips. You could use any image from this sheet. The reindeer look like they are having so much fun!

Lastly, I stamped the Merry Christmas greeting (from a retired set called Snowman Season) in Real Red ink on a strip of Basic White cardstock and trimmed the ends on a slant. The Merry Christmas from Reindeer Fun Stamp Set would work, also. Or you could use any appropriate Merry Christmas in your stash.

To assemble the card, I adhered the strip of red glitter paper with my favorite adhesive (Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal) to the left side of the top-folding landscape card base. I adhered the strings of lights DSP on the Real Red matte. I adhered this to my card. Be careful when placing this piece. As you may have noticed from the picture, I glued mine upside-down. 🙂 I adhered the reindeer to my die cut circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals and glued this to my card. Finally, I glued the greeting above the circle, slightly tucking it under the circle and added a cherry cobbler gem from the Cherry Cobbler & Pearl Adhesive-Backed Berries to the upper left-hand corner of the strip.

To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment on a 4″ x 5-1/4″ Basic White cardstock and glued it inside the card.

I hope you liked this card!
