Christmasy Hot Cocoa Card

When we think of winter and Christmas celebrations, we often think of cozy fires in the fireplace and a cup of hot cocoa with the added peppermint candy cane. This simple card will warm your recipient’s heart and provoke warm memories!

For the card base, I cut a piece of Real Red cardstock to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ on my Paper Trimmer, scored and folded at 4-1/4″, and burnished with my Bone Folder. I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4″ x5-1/4″ and ran it through my Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder with my Stampin’ Cut & Embossing Machine. I cut a piece of the red and white striped pattern from Take a Bow DSP to 3″ x 4″. With my Spotlight on Nature dies, I die cut a 2-1/4″ circle from Real Red cardstock.

I stamped the cup, whipped cream, and two candy canes from More Than Autumn bundle with Momento Tuxedo Black ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock. I colored the images with a Real Red Stampin’ Blend marker. With the dies in the bundle, I die cut all of the images.

I stamped Warm Wishes with Real Red ink from a retired set and die cut it with the label die from Cheerful Daisies dies. If you don’t have this particular stamp, you could use the “Warm & Cozy” sentiment from Christmas Labels stamp set.

To assemble the card, I adhered the white embossed matte to my card base using my favorite adhesive (Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal). To this, I adhered the striped panel making sure I had even borders.

I adhered my cup with the whipped cream to the center of my red circle die cut. The whipped cream extends slightly above the top of the circle. I glued the two candy canes to the white label of the cup. I adhered the circle to my card with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the lower right, about 3/4″ from the bottom edge of the DSP and extending slightly past the right edge.

I adhered my sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the upper right of the DSP piece. As a finishing touch, I added a peppermint from the Real Red and White Adhesive-Backed Peppermints.

To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment on a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock and added it to the inside of the card.

I hope you liked this card and were inspired to enjoy a cup of hot cocoa!
