Holiday Stocking Card

Now that Halloween is in the rear-view mirror, let’s look ahead to Christmas! Less than two months to get our cards together and sent out. Let’s also not forget that we “fall back” one hour tonight. Enjoy the extra hour of sleep!

Our card today begins with a card base of Garden Green cardstock, cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ on my Paper Trimmer, and scored and folded at 4-1/4″, burnished with my Bone Folder for a crisp fold. Next, I cut a piece of Real Red cardstock to 4″ x 5-1/4″. Using my So Swirly Embossing Folder, I dry embossed the Real Red piece in my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. I adhered this to my card base using my favorite adhesive (Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal.)

I cut a 2″ x 5-1/4 piece of the swirly ribbon paper from Sentimental Christmas DSP. I adhered this to the left side of my card, leaving a 1/8″ border.

With a scrap of Garden Green cardstock, I cut a rectangle to 2″ x 3-1/2″.

With the stocking imaged sheet of DSP from the Sentimental Christmas DSP pack, I carefully rough cut out a bow from the paper, without disturbing the stocking image. I used my middle rectangle Everyday Details die to cut out the stocking, and my Sentimental Wishes dies (Sentimental Wishes bundle) to cut out the bow with my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Since the 12″ x 12″ DSP won’t fit in the machine, I carefully rough cut the images out before die cutting. I adhered my die cut stocking image to the Garden Green rectangle and adhered this to my card using Dimensionals about 1/2″ from the top, leaving room for the sentiment.

I cut a scrap of Basic White cardstock to 3-7/8″ x 1″. I stamped “Happy Holidays” (from last year’s Throughout the Year stamp set in the Holiday mini) in Real Red ink, centering the sentiment. This stamp set is retired but you could substitute the greeting for something you have on hand, just adjust the measurements. A current greeting set is Greetings of the Season Photopolymer Stamp Set which has several greetings that would work on this card. I used my Paper Snips to cut a banner end on the right side of the strip and used a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional to adhere the DSP bow to the left of the sentiment. I added a Basic Rhinestone to the knot of the bow. I adhered the sentiment to the card under the focal image using Dimensionals.

To finish the card, I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4″ x 5-1/4″, added a greeting, and glued it inside my card.

I hope you enjoyed this simple, but beautiful card!
