The kids are back in school and the days are getting shorter, but we are still in summer! I thought this card using the Under the Moon stamp set would help us enjoy the remaining days of summer.
I started by cutting a 4-1/4″ x 11″ piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock with my Paper Trimmer, scoring and folding at 5-1/2″. Next, I took a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Balmy Blue cardstock and cut a circle about 3/4″ from the top, centered right to left, with my Stylish Shapes dies (the second to largest circle) with my Stampin’ Cut Embossing Machine. Then, I carefully placed my cardstock in my Dotted Circles Embossing Folder making sure my window was placed in the center of the concentric circles of the embossing folder.
With a 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ scrap of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the water image from Under the Moon stamp set in Balmy Blue ink. With Pool Party ink, I stamped the cloud images above the water. Lastly, I stamped the boat image with Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I slid the stamped images behind the window to make sure it fit. If you find you have white cardstock extending beyond your Balmy Blue piece, just cut it off before glueing the pieces together. Glue the stamped image to the back of the embossed Balmy Blue piece using your favorite adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin’ Seal. I like the liquid glue because it gives me a little wiggle room to make sure my water is actually horizontal. I glued this to my card base.
To add a little color and fun to the card, I used my Beach Day dies to cut the palm tree pieces. I cut the trunk from a scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock and the palm fronds from a scrap of Garden Green cardstock. I used a sponge dauber to add a little Crumb Cake ink to the edges of the trunk and a little Garden Green ink to the palm fronds. With a dot of glue in the center of one frond, I glued the two fronds together. I dotted some glue onto the narrow trunk and adhered it to the left side of the window. I glued the fronds to the top of the trunk.
I stamped the sentiment using the “happy birthday” stamp from the Beach Day stamp set on a 5/8″ x about 3″ strip of Basic White cardstock in Balmy Blue ink. You can cut the strip down after stamping. I mounted this on a 3/4″ of Misty Moonlight cardstock, cutting the strip to make equal borders. I adhered the sentiment using Dimensionals.
To finish the card, I adhered a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock inside the card after stamping the sentiment.
