Autumn Leaves with Spotlight on Nature Card

Are you ready for fall? Officially autumn doesn’t start until September 22 this year, but most people think of fall as starting the first of the month. No white shoes after Labor Day!

With the coming of fall, Stampin’ Up! also releases their new Holiday mini catalog. And the good news is that it went live today! If you haven’t already picked up your copy, I have some at the office or you can click the link and it will take you to it online. Lots of pretty new stamps, dies, paper, and embellishments!

Today’s card anticipates the cooler fall temperatures and shorter days that prompt the changing of the leaves. We are using a returning favorite stamp set, Autumn Leaves. This set is great because it stamps the full image, but also had the two-step stamp with the veins and stem. We are also using a newer bundle, Spotlight on Nature.

I started with a piece of Copper Clay cardstock cut at 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4 -1/4″ and folded. Then I took a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock, cut at 4″ x 5- 1/4″ and stamped it using the sprig of leaves image from Spotlight on Nature set in Pretty Peacock ink. I stamped the leaves around the edges, being careful to turn my stamp to make it look random. The leaves should be coming off the edge of the paper. I adhered this to my card base using Stampin’ Seal or Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

I inked up the maple leaf with Daffodil Delight ink and, before stamping, took a sponge dauber and added some Granny Apple Green ink to the stamp toward the center of the leaf. I then stamped it near the lower right-hand corner of a 3″ x 5″ piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, leaving a bit of space in the corner for the narrow leaf; let’s call it a hickory leaf. I inked the hickory leaf with Daffodil Delight ink and used a sponge dauber to add a little Cajun Craze ink before stamping in the corner. Then I inked up the oak leaf with Pecan Pie ink, daubing it with a bit of Early Espresso ink, and stamp in the upper right-hand corner. With Early Espresso ink, I stamped the veins and stems of all three leaves. I used a blending brush to add Copper Clay ink to the edge of the Very Vanilla piece. I used another blending brush and added a little Balmy Blue ink around the leaves. With Crumb Cake ink, I randomly stamped the mesh image from Spotlight on Nature around the leaves, first- and second-generation stamping. I did the same with the scatter stamp in Pretty Peacock ink. I adhered a 5″ x 1/2″ strip of gold foil sheets to the left side of the stamped piece, allowing about 1/8″ to show. I mounted this to my card with even borders on the right side of the card.

I die cut from Spotlight on Nature the second smallest dashed circle from Very Vanilla cardstock. I stamped the “thanks” from Spotlight on Nature in the center of the circle with Pretty Peacock ink. I punched a 1-3/4″ circle from gold foil and mounted the sentiment on the gold foil circle. I adhered the sentiment to the card using Dimensionals.

To finish the card, I added three pretty peacock pearl embellishments from Blooming Pearls.

I hope you like this card!
